Week 2 Updates
Project Octo: » Devlog
Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!
We've been a little 'away from keyboard' this week with the festivities, but here's a few exciting announcements to share regarding progress this on Project Octo-
- We are steering away from pre-generated characters and instead moving towards character classes.
- Originally, we wanted pre-set personalities with the idea that this would speed up getting into the game and playing, but we decided we don't want to limit players by forcing them into boxes
- We are moving away from calling this product a one-shot (opting for multi-shot instead?)
- We want to expand the game's replayability past randomized runs, giving players a chance to replay characters they enjoyed with rewards for completing runs (like a watered-down level-up system)
- Octopus heroes will be able to earn up to 3 stars, one for each successful run, which can be traded 1-for-1 to purchase additional or improved abilities
- As our heroes complete their adventures underwater, mechanics for 3D combat and map movement is included for gameplay (simplicity is a priority, since we want the game to be fun and not difficult to comprehend!)
